Leyland trained with Contact Youth Theatre. He has appeared at West Yorkshire Playhouse performing "Joachim and Nana" and "History Boys" (Royal National Theatre). He has appeared in "Sorted" (BBC Television) "City Central" (BBC Television) "The Ward" (Granada Television) and most recently "Waterloo Road". Leyland has also recorded many radio dramas for BBC.
